The airway community lost one of its best this past week. We are sad to share that Aaron Bair, a member of The Difficult Airway Course: Emergency faculty, has died. Aaron was an energetic member of The Difficult Airway Course family, always eager to improve the world with his innovative vision for medical education and airway skills.
Through his career at the University of California Davis, Aaron served in many leadership roles, including Dean of Continuing Medical Education and Medical Director of the Center for Virtual Care, and was instrumental in making the UC Davis airway management and simulation programs cutting edge. He insisted on excellence and created a culture of effective teaching, research and patient care. He was proudest of being a “clinician’s clinician” and loved the challenges of emergency medicine until the end.
Aaron started early in The Difficult Airway Course as a faculty member. His dry sense of humor and raucous laughter will stay with us forever. At every course we took home some of his wisdom. Aaron undoubtedly saved many lives through his teaching at The Difficult Airway Course. He will be missed by all.
Cheers, Aaron.
